Decatur Fish Farm's (DFF) owners, AL and Glenn Cromer, in Bainbridge, GA have operated their family business since 1997.  The Cromers have decided to retire and sell their business and adjoining land.  DFF raised delicious premium catfish for wholesale distribution. Their US/Georgia farm-raised filet and whole catfish were in high demand.  A special order was even received from the Georgia's Governor's Mansion for a specail occassion!

Soon after opening DFF, a wholesale distribution service was started.  Their catfish, after being individually quick frozen, was packaged in two pound bags, unless otherwise requested.  The line of products was expanded by partnering with other growers, processors and suppliers to purchase individually quick frozen products in bulk and repackage for wholesale distribution.  The number of stores in their distribution teritory of Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi grew to over 300 and their product line expanded to include whole, filet and nugget catfish, wild harvested shrimp, farm raised scallops, tilapia, swai and alligator.

The farm includes one (1) 4-inch well with a 5 HP Franklin Electric pump and motor and one (1) 8-inch well with a 20 HP Franklin Electric pump and motor that supplies water to the fish ponds.  The property is improved with an office / fish processing building that is 2,960 SF with a 432 SF canopy over the front porch, a 165 SF walk-in cooler, a 378 SF walk-in cooler, two (2) 101.25 SF concrete block fish tanks, a 1,140 SF metal canopy, and 1,908 SF concrete pads.  The property is also improved with a 784 SF fish hatchery building with an attached 448 SF unfinished storage area, a 560 SF unfinished storage area, a 625 SF concrete slab with two (2) 143 SF concrete block fish tanks; a 24' X 24' (576 SF) metal shop with concrete floor, one (1) 3.0 door and one (1) 8 foot roll-up door, an attached 24' X 60' (1,440 SF) wood and metal frame five (5) bay shelter with 576 SF being a concrete slab floor and the remaining 864 SF being a dirt floor, and an addition 3' X 36' (108 SF) concrete slab; a 12' X 16' (192 SF) pump house, and two (2) 320 SF docks.

There has been extensive work done to create the eight (8) fish ponds. Seven (7) of the ponds are 1.25 acres and one (1) is a 2.00 acre pond. There is approximately 3 1/2 feet to 4 1/2 feet of water in each of the ponds and every thirty (30) days 20% of the water in the ponds has been refreshed.

The farm is located on four-lane US Hwy. 84 east of Bainbridge, GA. The owners granted water and sewage easement access on the south side of Hwy. 84 for the when the county high school was being built.  As consideration for the right-of-way easement, the owners received adequate number of water and sewage taps at no cost for future development.  Sewer taps in place.
